Pint-Sized Fashionistas

Shiloh. Kingston. Violet. They may have famous parental units, but they’re also pint-sized fashionistas with hot Hollywood hairstyles.

Cozy Friedman is the founder of So Cozy products and Cozy’s Cuts for Kids, a hair salon and toy boutique in New York City. He says kids these days are style savvy…and know their celebrity stuff.

In fact, kids (and parents) come into my salons everyday with pages torn out of magazines, asking for styles that the children of celebrities are sporting.I consider this trend part of what I call the ‘Mini Metro’ phenomenon on, a new wave of youthful image consciousness in which kids really want to look their best and learn how to style their hair themselves.

The Celebutante Sisters want to help you and your kiddies tousle your tresses like the stars and their trendsetting offspring. Break out your brush. Here are some tips from Cozy Friedman!

The Trendsetting Offspring: Violet Affleck (daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck)

The Look: Pig Tails

How to Get It: “Cute and sweet, pig tails are a playful way to style your child’s hair,” says Cozy. Part your child’s hair at their natural part line then separate hair evenly on both sides. Keep pig tails in place with So Cozy Styling Gel in Groovy Grape ($13.95). “This lightweight formula maintains the hold of pig tails while allowing for natural movement,” explains Cozy.

The Trendsetting Offspring: Suri Cruise (daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise)

The Look: Layered Bob

How to Get It: “This feathery cut if a softer alternative to the classic bob style,” says Cozy. The key to any bobs however is frequent trims, in order to keep the shape. Flyaways can leave this style looking a bit messy, so I also recommend using a detangling spray such as So Cozy Detangler ($11.95) after each shampoo to prevent frizz later."

The Trendsetting Offspring: Kingston Rossdale (son of Gwen Stefanie and Gavin Rosedale)

The Look: Slight Sweep

How to Get It: “When it comes to boys, the days of the over-gelled, side-parted styles are through,” explains Cozy. “Today, the trend is toward a softer, more natural look.” After shampooing and conditioning, spray a bit of So Cozy Detangler & Leave-In Conditioner ($11.95) evenly over the hair and comb or brush through. After air or blow-drying, work a quarter-size amount of So Cozy Styling Cream ($13.95) through the hair to add a bit of hold and prevent the cut from looking unkempt.

The Trendsetting Offspring: CoCo Arquette (daughter of Courtney Cox and David Arquette)

The Look: Long Layers

How to Get It: “This style is all about looking well-groomed,” says Cozy. “To copy this style, first find your child’s natural part line by combing hair back on top of the head and then seeing where it splits. The stylist should then cut and shape the hair around this part. If a child has thin hair, long layers really help add body. Make sure to trim regularly to avoid wings on the sides and use a lightweight styling product such as So Cozy Styling Cream ($13.95) to play up the natural movement of your child’s hair.”
