Sacha Baron Cohen was supposed to hand out an Academy Award on Sunday, but has been banned from the ceremony instead incase he offends Avatar director James Cameron.

The Bruno star planned on teasing Cameron by dressing up as blue alien Na’vi and pretending to be pregnant with his baby.

Even though James approved the sketch, the comedian has been dropped from his presenting slot.

The movie maker told E! Online:

I don’t know anything about that… I don’t produce the Oscars. If they want to poke fun at Avatar on Sunday, that’s OK by me.

He continued:

The Oscars are a celebration of movies… even the gaffes and out of bounds stuff are all part of the fun.

Sacha’s rep, Matt Labov, confirms he will not longer be in attendance due to “creative differences”. Bummer.

Rumor has it that Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen are marrying later this month. The duo allegedly sent “save the date” invites to guests for February 26th.

The couple have been together for eight years, and have two-year-old daughter, Olive, together.

A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper:

Sacha and Isla are throwing a party. They have asked everyone to come in fancy dress. They haven’t told anyone it’s a wedding but that’s what we all suspect.

The possible date goes along with the Jewish festival of Purim. But…reps for the actor dismiss the report, saying they have no plans to wed in the near future.

Bruno took the top spot at the box office this weekend.

The movie sold an estimated $30.4 million worth of tickets during its three day open, beginning July 10.

TOO funny! It really is amazing how Sacha Baron Cohen can stay in his “Bruno” character without cracking up. The funny-man appeared on the Today Show this morning, where Matt Lauer told him the Austrian Minister to Great Britain has called for a boycott of the movie.

Bruno responded with:

VAT? This is the first I’m hearing of this. This is a very private moment. Close up, please. That is just so Austrian: they build you, zhen they knock you down. Hug me, I feel so lonely!

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new comedy, Bruno, is about a horny gay Austrian fashion journalist. Originally the flick was rated NC-17, but has since been re-rated R after cuts and revisions were made. Page Six reports:

One change is that black circles have been superimposed over naked body parts during three scenes, including one where Bruno has a slap-and- tickle with his Pygmy boy friend.

Sacha Baron Cohen has already promoted his new movie in seven countries over the past 18 days, Sydney being the last stop on his tour.

He continued:

Ich really hope my movie realises its full global potential and doesn’t peter out after a promising start like swine flu. Let’s hope, like herpes, this film continues to infect audiences for the next 1000 years.

Cohen, dressed up as Bruno (obviously), arrived at a press conference on Monday morning a bit late. His reasoning?

The reason I’m late is I just had breakfast in bed with Kevin Rudd. That guy is like, uber cute. I thought Obama was like the hottest guy in the world until I met Kevin.

Too funny! Can’t wait to check out the movie, which hits theaters on July 10th.

Uh oh! Sacha Baron Cohen may need to tame down his Bruno character a bit. Seems as though the funny man has taken his alter ego a bit too far for fiancé, Isla Fisher.

A friend reveals:

Sacha really takes on his characters and it’s fair to say that Bruno brings out the worst in him. Isla has attended as many of the Bruno premieres as she can, while Sacha has repaid her by poking fun at them. She can take a joke but there are certain things, like their sex life, she’s had to pull him up on. He’s stepped over the line and with Isla, Sacha knows when he’s in trouble.
